Dragon boat festival



Over the weekend, I attended a Dragon Boat Festival held at West Valley College. The event featured live music, and my scout friends were selling a variety of goodies, including cold noodles, chocolate cake, and meat buns. 



I decided to try the cold noodles and found them to be incredibly chewy and delicious. For drinks, I enjoyed winter melon tea and a peach-flavored tea with white pearls from Mr. Sun's tea stand. The dessert was a slice of chocolate cake. 



To top it off, I even received a free fan from an after-school program organization, as well as an inflatable cat headband and a pen. After lunch, I took a scenic walk with my friend Selina around the campus. All in all, it was an amazing day at the dragon boat festival.

Five-Colored Fried Rice

I made the fried rice with five ingredients: seaweed, shrimp, edamame, eggs, and brown rice. These ingredients have five different colors. First, I cut the seaweed into small pieces on the big plate.  Next, I put the cooked shrimp and edamame next to the seaweed. Then I beat the eggs in a tin bowl and fried them first. After the eggs were cooked and fluffy, I added the remaining ingredients to the pan.  At last, I added salt and sesame oil for flavor.   I enjoyed colorful fried rice with  apple slices. It's savory and fragrant.

Sleepover at Cal Academy of Sciences

I joined my scout’s sleepover event at Cal Academy of Sciences on Cinco de Mayo evening. Ms. Helen took Selina, Jenna, and me there, and we met other scouts at the entrance. First, we put our stuff down at Piazza. Then, we started exploration. We walked around to see the white alligator and went to the African Hall. I saw many animals, including leopards and giraffes. At the end of the hall, I saw penguins. Later, we watched a movie called Expedition Reef. After the movie, we went to the aquarium to see fish. We also went to the living roof at night. I saw a Ferris wheel far away. We listened to a storybook that was read by the museum staff. For a snack, I ate a cookie with apple juice. Finally, it was bedtime. I set up my sleep stuff first. I laid out my beach towel on the floor. I put my yoga mat on it.  And I placed the sleeping bag on the top. I went to sleep after I washed my face, brushed my teeth, and wore pajamas. Chinese New Year Party

On Saturday, I joined my friend Grace's Chinese New Year party. We were celebrating the Year of the Snake. Grace's mom bought Panda Express food for us. I ate orange chicken with fried rice and beef, and I  also ate chow mein. I drank root beer and apple cider. For dessert, we had a delicious chocolate cake.  As a guest, I brought a bag of coconut rice cookies and a bag of sesame cookies.  They are unique for the Chinese New Year. We played  Mario Cart on Nintendo Switch. We played all the games. We watched the lion dance on TV. We laughed together, and we had a good  Chinese New Year Party. I got a lot of red envelopes. I enjoyed the food.  I had a blast at the party.   Happy Chinese New Year, everyone!
