An Unforgettable Panda Experience in Chengdu

We traveled by train with my grandma to Chengdu. After we arrived, we went to see the giant pandas at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. It’s a large park on a hill with plenty of bamboo forest. The pandas are housed in different areas according to their age and needs. We rode the electric golf cart around the panda base. We could get off at any stop. First, we went to see the little pandas. A panda was sitting in the tree, welcoming us. In the house, I saw a few cute pandas playing with each other. They also fought with each other, as toddlers do. When a little panda fell to the ground from a bridge, people laughed. Then we saw red pandas playing in the outdoor natural habitat. They were very playful. They jumped from branch to branch. Sometimes I could find them. Sometimes I couldn’t find them. I walked around the enclosure wall to spy on them. Delicious Trip to China

My family and I traveled to China in June. We visited our relatives and friends in Zhengzhou, Henan province first, then went to Chengdu. In Zhengzhou, I ate so much delicious food.   When we arrived in Zhengzhou, we visited my grandma at her house. I was so happy to see her. I hugged her and brought her a mug with printed flowers and“I love grandma.” She was so happy and invited us to a restaurant for lunch. We had steamed dumplings, short rib with batter, cold noodles with sesame sauce and some vegetables, and chicken wonton soup with vegetables. I also drank Jasmine tea. I enjoyed my lunch with my grandma.   We lived in my uncle's and aunt’s big house for a few days. My uncle raised many peacock fish in the big fish tanks. He showed me that the fish had many small baby fish. He fed the fish with fish food and also cleaned the fish tank. Simple Vegetable Korma Bowl

Have you ever had a vegetable korma bowl?  I made a simple vegetable korma bowl with my friend Nikki. It's very easy to make. I chopped all the vegetables, including red bell pepper, white cauliflower, and purple onion, while Nikki helped me defrost the green peas. I combined everything in a metal bowl, added plain yogurt for marination, and included tikka masala spice in the mix.  I then mixed the vegetables by hand to coat them evenly with the sauce, cooked them, and added korma sauce to the pan. Nikki helped with cooking the onion in the metal pot, and I let the vegetables simmer on the stove. Afterwards, I transferred all the korma vegetables into my bowl. The vegetable korma turned out very delicious, flavorful, creamy, and tasty. I enjoyed eating my simple vegetable korma bowl for dinner and saved the leftovers for lunch the next day. And I appreciated making it with Nikki.

Stir-Fried Garlic Stems with Pork

The garlic stems are a unique and popular vegetable in China, but they are rare in America.  Last Friday, I cooked a traditional Chinese dish with green garlic stems and ground pork. First, I cooked the ground pork in a pan on the stove, then added all the green garlic stems and cooked them until they were soft and tender. At last, I added a little salt to it to maintain its original flavor.    The green garlic stem dish was so delicious with the pork that I made a very tasty lunch. I enjoyed eating the green garlic stems; they were very savory and flavorful in my bowl.

Chinese New Year Celebration

Last Tuesday was the Lunar New Year. I celebrated this Chinese New Year by making a special tofu hot pot.     It all started in the morning when my mom surprised me with a red envelope full of money. I decided to make a special dish to celebrate the Chinese New Year. I had a tofu hot pot kit on hand to cook, so I added more ingredients to make it special. First, I cut the tofu into cubes while I brought water to a boil in a large metal pot. Next, I added the cooked shrimp, mushrooms, and green vegetables to the boiling water. Lastly, I added the tofu with all the ingredients, including the hard-boiled eggs, and the soup base for my hot pot.  I enjoyed my hot, cozy special tofu hot pot. For dessert, I had candied hawthorn on a skewer. I had a special and happy Chinese New Year celebration!

First-Time Enchiladas Success

Last Friday,  I made the enchiladas for the first time.  My friend Nikki gave me a lot of help. First, I cooked the ground pork. Next, we made the enchilada sauce,  poured it into the baking pan,  and spread it evenly. Then we assembled the tortillas with meat and cheese. We made all the enchiladas, added more cheese on top, and put them in the glass baking pan. Finally, we placed it in the oven and baked it.  After baking, the cheese was golden and gooey. The enchiladas were savory and very delicious. I ate two cheesy enchiladas for dinner. I saved others to enjoy later. I felt it was very easy to make.  It was  totally successful!

Egg-cellent Ways to Cook Eggs

I like to cook eggs for breakfast. It's high in protein and easy to cook at home. A few weeks ago, I made a classic omelette using all the eggs. First, I beat all the eggs in a metal bowl, then added the oil to the pan and cooked them over  the stove. It was done in a few minutes.   I enjoyed eating my classic omelette with raspberries and chocolate milk. Another time, I added vegetable pieces and all the ingredients to make fluffy eggs. It's light and airy, like clouds. It's so crispy!   Sometimes, I add lunch meat and cheese to the eggs. After it's done, I roll it like a burrito. It's so much fun!
