Fun Soap Making

Image
On Wednesday afternoon, I went to my scout’s soapmaking activity at a senior center. We were supposed to teach the seniors how to make soap. Some scouts had trained one week ago, but I had just watched Youtube to learn. It was easy. I could do it. In the beginning, there were no seniors who came to learn, so we just made the soap by ourselves. I chose the white soap base to make a pastel purple color.  First, I cut the soap base into small pieces and melted them in the microwave for 30 seconds. Next, I added some gardenia floral fragrance to the soap mixture. Then, I poured the soap mixture into a Princess Jasmine mold. After 20 minutes, the soap was dry. My friend helped me get the soap out of the mold, and it was so pretty! Later, I made other soaps in different molds: a donut-shaped soap in purple, a rose-shaped soap in cream, and mini roses in blue.  Finally, we taught a senior how to make soap. She made the soap in a heart-shaped mold.  She told us about her scouting story, which

Spicy Coconut Curry Pork Noodle Soup

Image
A while ago, I made a spicy coconut curry pork noodle soup dish. First, I washed one chili and one lemon. Then, I chopped the chili and quartered the lemon. I prepared a medium pot to boil water with a pinch of salt. While the water was boiling, I cooked the pork and vegetables, which were bok choy and napa cabbage. I added stock concentrate to the pork and vegetables to make soup. I cooked ramen noodles in boiling water, then drained the noodles and rinsed them in cold water.  Next, I put the noodles in the soup. I stirred in a carton of coconut milk, squeezed a whole lemon into the soup, and seasoned it with salt and pepper. I divided the soup into two bowls, squeezed lemon juice on top, and served it. Overall, the dish was spicy and creamy. I enjoyed eating the spicy coconut curry pork noodle soup dish.

A Wonderful and Memorable Easter

Image
I went to a family outing in Alviso on a sunny Easter Sunday. The most exciting activity was kayaking in the Guadalupe River. First, I helped my dad carry the kayak to the dock. Next, my dad and I put on the life vests.  Then, the coach helped us to get on the kayak. At last, we went off to the Guadalupe River. My mom was in another kayak.   In the beginning, I was confused about the direction. The kayak kept turning around and bumped into the bank. My dad taught me how to use the paddle to turn the boat. Left, Right, Left, Right. I got it. Finally, we could control the boat and enjoy kayaking. After the kayaking, we had lunch at San Jose South Bay Yacht Club. I had a hamburger, chow main, salad, cookie, and banana. I drank fruit tea with rainbow jelly. I talked to my friend Amanda.  Before I played the game, I hiked with my dad for a while.  There were several games in the room, and I chose to make a dog-shaped stamp.    In the end, I made chocolate fondue with marshmallows and banana

Encounter with a Coyote at Coyote Hills

Image
I saw a coyote at Coyote Hills. Is that awesome?  On Sunday, I went on hiking with my friends at Coyote Hills. From the parking lot, we crossed a bridge and entered the park.    It was a very sunny day with soft white cotton clouds floating in the blue sky. I played with Benji, a white dog with brown spots. I held Benji’s leash. He ran so fast. I ran with him.  My friends and  I took turns holding the dog’s leash. We hiked on top of the hill. I saw many beautiful poppies and many other wildflowers. The bay is very beautiful.  I saw several turkeys opening their gorgeous feathers, many people riding bicycles, and people walking their dogs on the trail. The most exciting moment was the time when I saw the coyote. He looked at us for a second and went away.
