Dog Day

Image
Last Thursday, I attended the Fresno State Dog Day orientation which was quite an exciting experience. At the Wayfinders booth, I checked in and received my name tag along with a red bag containing a free T-shirt and a student handbook.  After that, I went through a quick interview session with one of the staff and met my new classmates. We did some icebreakers and introduced ourselves to each other.  Next, we were taught how to use Canvas, an online course management system and I completed the Introduce Yourself assignment. Later, we played some games outside and exchanged phone numbers with my new roommate. Overall, my college experience at Fresno was pleasant and I had a great time at the Dog Day orientation.

Fun at the Coliseum Swap Meet

Image
I had a great time at the Coliseum Swap Meet on Father's Day Sunday. The lively Latin band added to the fun atmosphere.  I even tried riding the mechanical bull twice and shouted in excitement while on it. However, I fell off when it rocked back and forth as I didn't hold on to the handle on the bull's head. Afterward, I explored the various stalls and found a woman selling key chains. I purchased a purple hello kitty key chain and a Hulk ID card holder with a baby Hulk charm.  I also bought Mexican lollipops in four different flavors, including mango, watermelon, and la pollo, as well as Blue Raz, a sour candy-flavored liquid, toxic waste from the food stand. In the end, I heard music and noticed people dancing. I decided to join in and danced joyfully alongside them. Overall, it was a memorable Father's Day spent with my dad.

Dragon boat festival

Image
Over the weekend, I attended a Dragon Boat Festival held at West Valley College. The event featured live music, and my scout friends were selling a variety of goodies, including cold noodles, chocolate cake, and meat buns.  I decided to try the cold noodles and found them to be incredibly chewy and delicious. For drinks, I enjoyed winter melon tea and a peach-flavored tea with white pearls from Mr. Sun's tea stand. The dessert was a slice of chocolate cake.  To top it off, I even received a free fan from an after-school program organization, as well as an inflatable cat headband and a pen. After lunch, I took a scenic walk with my friend Selina around the campus. All in all, it was an amazing day at the dragon boat festival.

My Super Cool Air Fryer

Image
I bought a blue-colored air fryer on Amazon. I downloaded the Instant Pot app. The app is handy. First, I made avocado fries to test the air fryer. It turned out crispy outside and creamy inside. It worked successfully.  Then, I made fried chicken. After marinating the chicken with salt and pepper,  I used the egg wash to coat the chicken and put them in the panko crumb. When the air fryer was beeping, I put the chicken in the air fryer. I turned them once so that they would be cooked evenly on both sides.   The chicken was tender and crispy. My parents enjoyed them and praised me.  I enjoyed them too, and I am so proud of myself.   Later, I also air-fried okra, potstickers, and sweet potato fries. I had a great experience using the air fryer. I liked my new air fryer. It is straightforward to use. You can program the temperature and timer. It cooks very fast. The food is so delicious. I highly recommend the air fryer to my friends.

Movie Outing

Image
I had a great time on Tuesday when I went to the movie theater with my whole group to watch The Little Mermaid.  I bought some popcorn and a bag of sour gummy worms to snack on, and I also got a pineapple-flavored Fanta to drink. The movie was so enjoyable, especially watching Ariel sing so beautifully. The sea animals were also very colorful and charming in the water. I couldn't help but laugh when Sebastian the crab sang “Under the Sea" - he was hilarious! It was heartwarming to see how he liked to dance and cheer up Ariel when she felt sad. Watching the movie with my friends was such a memorable experience.

Family Camp at Brannan Island State Recreation Park

Image
Over the Memorial weekend, I attended a family camp with scouts at Brannan Island State Recreation Park. Although it was quite cloudy and humid, I played card, relay race, human knots,  and volleyball with the other scouts and parents. We also learned how to chop wood and start a fire. We learned these skills and earned the badges.  Our parents had a potluck at dinner, where they enjoyed some duck meat, sticky rice,  BBQ, and baked buns.  Our scouts cooked tasty fried rice and some delicious seafood soup. We enjoyed our meal. Afterward, we gathered around the campfire and did some funny skits, singing "Let It Go" from Frozen and some Chinese songs. We also did the flag ceremony and recited the Pledge of Allegiance before burning the old flag. We had thirteen scouts in total. I slept in a big tent with the other six scouts, and in the morning, we made garlic bread and pepperoni pizza for breakfast.  After cleaning up my sleeping bag and mat, we went for a hike on the trail and
