Shopping at the Farmer’s Market

Image
My mom and I had a festive shopping at the New Park Mall Farmer’s Market. I walked around the stalls and saw many fresh vegetables. I have never seen the purple bell pepper. It’s unique. I was curious about the taste, so I bought some.   I found prickly cucumbers and colorful heirloom tomatoes. They are my favorites. I also bought a white bitter melon and mini seedless grapes.  I bought a box of pork bao, the traditional Chinese food. After we got home, we prepared lunch quickly. I washed the tomatoes. I cut the cucumbers into cubes and sprinkled seasonings. I microwaved pork bao for a minute.  The pork bao was very juicy and tender with fresh tomatoes and cucumbers.

Shopping at Great Mall

Image
My mom and I went to Great Mall to shop around.  There were not so many people in the mall. I went to the Gap store for clothes. I tried on several dresses in the fitting room, but the tie-dyed dress didn’t fit me. I purchased an ombre sports dress because I liked the color, and it worked for me. Next, I went to the Austin Five store. Although I liked a butterfly dress, it didn’t fit me. Luckily I bought a red straw hat, and my mom bought a different colored straw hat. They’re beautiful and stylish.   Then we went to the Nautica store. The colorful slippers were beautiful but didn’t fit me. At last, we went to the Colombia store. I looked for a waterproof jacket for my dad and chose a two-colored jacket for him. I was a little bit hungry, so we went to Anderson Bakery.  I bought some delicious pastries. I felt satisfied!

Cooking Dinner with Kayleigh

Image
Yesterday my friend Kayleigh came over to my house to visit me. We painted the turtle that I made in school. We also watched a movie, Ice Age, on TV.  After we played for a while, we decided to make dinner.   We chose to bake chicken quesadillas. We went to Lucky to shop for ingredients.  Kayleigh made the cheese sauce and mixed it with shredded chicken.  We put the filling into the tortillas and folded them in half. We put the quesadillas into the oven and baked them until golden brown and crispy.   The quesadillas were yummy and fresh out of the oven. Kayleigh also made watermelon lemonade for me. The drink was very delicious and refreshing.   I had fun hanging out with my friend Kayleigh.

Sunny Side Up Eggs

Image
Today I made sunny side up eggs.  This is my first time making the  sunny side up eggs. I watched several YouTube videos before I started. The ingredients I used were butter and eggs. After the butter was sizzling, I put two eggs in the pan. I scooped the butter from the bottom of the pan and put on the top of egg white to cook throughly. I put salt and papper on the eggs to add flavor. When the egg white was not running and the yolks were vibrate yellow, I gently lifted the two eggs on the plate. The eggs were    right out of the pan. It was  very yummy and fresh, with nutty butter flavor. It's a perfect breakfirst: sunny side up eggs with toasts and strawberries!

Swim Camp

Image
I started the FCSN summer swim camp at Aqua Adventure Water Park on a sunny day. My swim instructor was Natasha. She was friendly and patient.  I did warm up with her in the swimming pool. She always encouraged and praised me when I did a swimming pose right. I practiced kicking first. Then I swam backstroke and freestyle. After the swim lesson, I played the rings with her. She pushed me round and round when I played with the swimming tube. I felt comfortable and relaxed in the water.  What a joyful swim lesson with my instructor Natasha!

Summer Sports in Donner Lake

Image
I joined the Achieve Tahoe Sierra Summer Sports in Donner Lake. This was my first time joining kayaking, paddle boarding, tubing, jet skiing, and canoeing. I was eager to try them all. First, the coach taught me how to hold the paddle correctly. Then I went kayaking with my coach on the lake. I followed the coach’s instruction to row the paddle.  I worked hard to control the boat.  Second, I did paddle boarding with my coach. I knelt on the board, but it was uncomfortable. I changed to crisscross sitting and enjoyed it much more.   Third, I rode tubing with my friend Selina. I screamed as the tube went bumpy crazily. Although  I fell into the water, I wore the life jacket and was rescued by the staff. I had fun tubing with all of my friends.  Fourth, I rode jet skiing. I held both handles on the driver’s life jacket. It’s so fast, like a rollercoaster. It’s thrilling. I liked it most and rode it several times. At last, I participated in canoeing with a group of people. We worked hard t

Italian Chicken & Pepper Sandos with Potato Wedges & Garlic sauce

Image
I washed the potatoes, onion, and green pepper. I cut the potatoes into thick wedges and sliced the onion and the green pepper. I tossed the potatoes on a baking sheet with a large drizzle of oil, salt, and pepper and roasted them in the oven until golden brown and crispy. I made the sauce with mayonnaise,   sour cream, and half the garlic powder and seasoned it with salt and pepper.   I heated a large drizzle of oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. I added the onion and green pepper cooked the vegetable, and I stirred the vegetable occasionally until softened and lightly browned and seasoned with salt and pepper. Then I cooked the chicken with the veggies. I halved the baguettes lengthwise and toasted them in the oven until golden. Then I spread the bottom half of the toasted garlic buns with half the garlic sauce. I topped it with chicken and veggie mixture, sprinkled it with mozzarella, and returned it to the middle rack until the cheese melted.       I served the sandos with t

Bulgogi Pork Tenderloin with Roasted Carrots & Lemony Rice

Image
This is my first Korean dish. I washed the carrots, scallions, and lemon. I cut the carrots into thick rounds, zested and quartered the lemon, and thinly sliced the scallions. I cooked the rice, seared the pork,   then roasted the carrots and the pork in the oven. I   cooked the bulgogi sauce. Finally, I sliced the pork and put it on the plate with carrots and rice. I drizzled the pork with bulgogi sauce and sprinkled scallion greens and sesame seeds.

Minion Pizzas

Image
I like pizza, so I made Minion pizzas, but they looked like Sponge Bob! I washed tomato, bell pepper, and yellow squash. I washed the beans and drained them. I thinly sliced the tomato and squash into rounds and cut the bell pepper into strips. I cooked the sausage and removed the casing. I rolled out the dough and shaped it into the shape of the minion. I put marinara sauce, cream sauce,   cheese, and vegetables on the pizza dough.   I baked the pizzas in the oven for 10 “Minion-utes” until the crust was golden brown. The pizzas were fresh and delightful out of the oven.
